Stanisław Adamski (born April 12, 1875 in Grünberg in the municipality of Obersitzko , Samter district , Posen province ; † November 12, 1967 in Kattowitz , People's Republic of Poland ) was Bishop of Kattowitz and Polish politician of the Second Polish Republic .

Life

Ordained a priest on November 12, 1899 , he was politically active at an early age and from 1904 sat in the city parliament of Poznan . During the Wielkopolska Uprising of 1918-1919 he was head of the Supreme People's Council in Poznan. In the years 1919-1922 he was a member of the Sejm ( Polish : Poseł ), later 1922-1927 senator and 1924-1927 managing director of Unia Związków Spóldzielczych . For several years he was the director of the Św. Wojciech . From 1929 he headed Akcja Katolicka .

He began to rebuild religious life in his diocese, but was removed from office by the Polish authorities in 1952. After 1956 his work was restricted; Due to his advanced age and poor health, he withdrew and wrote numerous works on Catholic social teaching .
