Arkayic Revolt is a Canadian thrash metal band from Windsor that was formed in 2008.

history

The band was formed in early 2008 by guitarist Darryl Fletcher and drummer Brett Swan. A short time later, guitarist friend Mike Hartigan, who had just moved back to Windsor, joined them. Then they began to work together on previously written songs and to write new ones. In the fall, the band went to Sound Foundry Studios to record a first demo . Meanwhile, the group started looking for a singer. For the demo Fletcher took over the vocals, after which it was decided that he should take this position permanently. Since the band was convinced of the quality of the recordings, the demo developed into the EP Undead Man Walking . At the beginning of 2009 the EP was published, of which around 200 copies set off. Through the sound carrier and through their profile on Myspace , the group was able to increase their awareness, whereby they achieved a recording contract with Punishment 18 Records . In the fall, the debut album Death's River was recorded and released in early 2010. After the release, the band planned to perform live, but Brett Swan had to leave town indefinitely because of his work. After a few months, the band broke up with him and started looking for a new drummer. Since they could not find what they were looking for locally, the band expanded their search to the Internet, whereupon they found it in Ingersoll . Fletcher and Hartigan then moved the band's headquarters to London , which is near Ingersoll. At the beginning of 2011 it became clear that the new drummer did not have enough time to be continuously involved in the band, so that Arkayic Revolt was again without a drummer. Fletcher and Hartigan then recorded a new song at Emac Studios in London. The session members were drummer Will Mulligan and bassist Aaron Palmer. After the recordings, drummer Pete W. and bassist Brian Laine joined the line-up as new members. Both were long-time friends and had previously played in other bands together. The first appearance with the new cast took place in August together with Toxic Holocaust in London.

style

Blizzard from metalglory.de counted the band in his review of Death's River as part of the second Thrash Metal wave. The group is mainly based on Thrash Metal of the 1980s from the San Francisco Bay Area and São Paulo . The songs are marked by staccato - riffs and high game speed. The band also makes use of solos , polyphonic shouts and hooklines . Reini from stormbringer.at also assigned the album to Thrash Metal and also heard Bay Area influences, but also from the east coast of the United States . The music is "hard and reasonably fast" and resembles that of the label colleagues Pitiful Reign and Ancient Dome .
