Joachim Kosack

Joachim Kosack (born June 28, 1965 in Gunungsitoli on Nias , Indonesia ) is a German television producer . Kosack is the managing director of UFA Fiction GmbH and UFA Serial Drama GmbH.

Career

Kosack was born the son of Jürgen Kosack (1929–2012), who was a missionary in Indonesia until 1968. In his youth he was influenced by Pastor Hans-Georg Filker (* 1949). He graduated from high school in 1985 in Wuppertal . Kosack worked as a cabaret artist and in theaters until 1995, before starting as a writer on the daily soap Good Times, Bad Times , where he was chief author for two years. Then he was chief author and producer of the RTL series Behind Bars for three years . From 2001 to 2006 Kosack was a producer at TeamWorx , where he produced a. a. the events Stauffenberg and Die Flucht with Maria Furtwängler , but also u. a. the first German telenovela Bianca - Paths to happiness . In 2006 he moved to Producers at Work for a year . During this time, the series RIS was created. From 2007, Kosack was the next editor-in-chief for self-produced fiction at Sat.1 and later took over overall responsibility for all self-produced formats at ProSiebenSat1 Media AG . During this time he also oversaw films such as Goethe! by Philipp Stölzl . At Sat1 he was responsible for the series Danni Lowinski and The Last Bull, as well as for great film successes such as Die Wanderhure , Wir sind das Volk - love knows no borders or barefoot up to the neck . From 2011 to 2012 Kosack was the managing director of Sat1 before he became managing director and producer at UFA Fiction from the end of 2012 with Nico Hofmann and Markus Brunnemann. There he produced the Bella Block series and films such as The Resignation and the Udo Honog Story . From 2016 Kosack also took over the management of UFA Serial Drama together with Rainer Wemcken . Kosack has been teaching at the Ludwigsburg Film Academy since 2002 and has been an honorary professor of the serial production course there since 2005. In 2011 he received the Robert Geisendörfer Prize , the EKD media prize .
