Rainer Wemcken

Rainer Wemcken (* 1952 in Hagen ) is a German filmmaker .

Life

After studying law in Kiel and Munich , he began studying at the University of Television and Film in Munich and worked as a unit manager for films such as Theo against the rest of the world , Heartbreakers and the Bavarian film prize-winning The Precious Guest by Dominik Graf . In addition, he took over the production management of feature films such as Die Katzen mit Götz George , Faust with the Münchner Kammerspiele and television series such as Der Fahnder and Rote Erde - Part 2 .

Endemol Entertainment entrusted Wemcken with the production management in 1992 and, as a member of the management, made him responsible for the entire in-house production area.

In 1997, Wemcken moved to UFA Serial Drama (then still GrundyUFA) as Managing Director . From 2001 to 2016, Rainer Wemcken was managing director of the company and was responsible for the production of series such as Gute Zeiten, Bad Zeiten , Unter Uns , Alles Wasamt and Verbotene Liebe .

At the end of 2016, Wemcken gave up his position as managing director, while Markus Brunnemann also forms the new dual leadership of the company with Joachim Kosack .
