Arno Theus

Arno Theus (born October 18, 1911 in Thusis , † March 24, 1999 in Chur , reformed , resident in Felsberg , since 1953 in Thusis) was a Swiss politician ( Democratic Party of Graubünden ).

biography

Arno Theus was born on October 18, 1911 in Thusis as the son of the businessman Leonhard Theus and Mathilda, born Bandli. After attending the cantonal school in Chur, he studied economics in St. Gallen and Bern , which he obtained in 1938 with the academic degree of Dr. rer. pole. completed. Subsequently he was employed as secretary of the Graubünden farmers' association between 1937 and 1950.

In addition, Arno Theus was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bündner Kraftwerke from 1966 to 1985 , of Kraftwerke Hinterrhein from 1978 to 1985 and of Graubündner Kantonalbank from 1959 to 1982 . Theus also presided over the Graubünden working group for hiking trails from 1963 to 1975.

Arno Theus was married to Ursula Katharina, the daughter of the businessman Anton Brunold. He died on March 24, 1999 at the age of 87 in Chur.

politics

The member of the Democratic Party was initially represented in the Grisons Grand Council from 1939 to 1947 . From 1951 to 1956, Arno Theus was a member of the government of the Education and Health Department. Most recently, he served in the Council of States from 1956 to 1974 , which he chaired between 1970 and 1971, including as President of the Finance Delegation of the Federal Councils.
