Aromatic

Aromat is a brand for a condiment from the manufacturer Knorr , which is part of the Unilever Group. It was invented in 1953 and enhances the " hearty " taste of numerous dishes, as it contains, among other things, the flavor enhancer sodium glutamate . Other ingredients are table salt , palm oil and various spice extracts . Aromat is particularly popular in Switzerland and South Africa.

Since 2012, the manufacturer Knorr has also been offering an aromatic product without glutamate for the Swiss market: “Aromat of course without”, instead of glutamate, it is flavored with yeast extract , which itself contains natural glutamate. Since March 2018, Coop Naturaplan has also been offering a glutamate-free variant, which is free of any flavorings and colors and whose ingredients are 100 percent certified by Bio Suisse according to the strict Bud standard. For example, the glutamate has been replaced by an organic vegetable powder.

Similar products are z. B. Fondor ( wort from Maggi , since 1954) and Mirador (from Migros ) or Vegeta from the Croatian manufacturer Podravka. The Swiss catering supplier Hügli offers the Picanta sprinkle wort , the Swiss food manufacturer Oswald also offers its Aromix , advertised as “the Oswald Aromat”. There is also a comparable product from the Swiss food manufacturer Nahrin, the Nahrom wort .
