Artur Imhoff is a German silent film from 1915 by Paul von Woringen based on a novel by Hans Land with Erich Kaiser-Titz in the title role.
action
The medical professor Artur Imhoff is one of the most respected surgeons in town. He was already 50 years old when he married the much younger aristocratic Annie von Arnsberg, an impoverished orphan. The wedding is celebrated on a grand scale, Prof. Imhoff's student body forms a festive parade.
But clouds quickly gather in the married sky. Annie meets the student representative, Baron Bernfeld, a handsome young man of her generation, and falls in love with him. Thereupon she leaves her husband, who suffers badly from the loss. One day Prof. Imhoff is called to a complicated case. It is Bernfeld who absolutely needs Imhoff's medical skills. The latter does not hesitate for a moment, operates the rival and in doing so puts his faithless wife to shame.
Production notes
The film was shot in the autumn of 1915 in the Mutuskop studio in Berlin-Lankwitz . The six-act film with a length of originally 1,800 meters, later 1,661 meters (both a good one hour playing time) passed the censorship in December 1915 and was banned from young people. The first performance took place in January 1916 in the Berlin Tauentzienpalast .
The theater actors Emil Rameau and Wilhelm Huch probably gave their debut here in front of the camera.
