William Huch (actor)
William Huch , also Wilhelm Huch (born September 28, 1857 in Braunschweig , † September 27, 1950 in Berlin-Steglitz ) was a German actor .
Live and act
Huch had played theater for many decades since the last quarter of the 19th century without leaving any major traces. He performed both in the provinces (for example as a singer at the opera / operetta of the Residenztheater Hannover ) and in Berlin, where he was at the Deutsches Theater Max Reinhardts at the side of colleagues such as Alexander Moissi , Harry Liedtke and before the First World War the very young Ernst Lubitsch worked. After the war he was also seen at other venues in the capital, such as the Volksbühne . There he worked with colleagues such as Jürgen Fehling , Heinz Hilpert and Veit Harlan . Since the 1930s, by now the doyen of German actors, he has rarely taken on a permanent engagement - exception: 1933/34 at the theater in Behrenstrasse .
Since the early phase of the First World War, Huch has appeared in front of the camera from time to time. In the sound film era, when theater work became too arduous for the elderly artist, Huch was engaged as a film actor with small and small roles until shortly before the end of World War II . William Huch died one day before he would have turned 93.
