Artur Rinne
Artur Rinne (born September 25, 1910 in Narva , Estonia Governorate , † January 31, 1984 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) was an Estonian opera singer with a baritone voice and interpreter of popular music .
Life
Artur Rinne was born into the family of a train driver who was employed at the railway depot in Narva. His mother sewed and knitted at home. Rinne spent his childhood and early school years in Narva. After his father was transferred to Tapa , he went to school there, sang in the choir, played in the orchestra and worked black as a postman.
In 1927 Artur Rinne entered the Tallinn Conservatory . Two years later he sang in the choir of the Estonia Theater and after another five years he appeared there as a soloist. During the Second World War , Rinne fought on the German side against the Red Army .
Between 1945 and 1949 Rinne worked as a director at the Vanemuine Theater in Tartu . In 1950 he was deported to Siberia . It was not until 1956 that he was able to return to Estonia in the course of de-Stalinization . He then worked until 1970 as a director for Estonian television and the production company Eesti Telefilm . He also performed as a soloist with the Estonian SSR State Philharmonic.
Artur Rinne died in Tallinn in 1984. His grave is in the Tallinn Forest Cemetery .

Artur Rinne left a great musical legacy. As an opera singer, he is famous for his interpretations of the roles of Figaro in the Barber of Seville , Tonio in Bajazzo , Papageno in the Magic Flute and Rigoletto . A personal friendship and creative collaboration linked him with his fellow singer Georg Ots for many years . Rinne created the music films "Georg Ots singt", "Abendwalzer" and "A day full of songs" for television. His concert activities as an interpreter of light music is documented on numerous records. His pre-war releases appeared on the Latvian label Bellaccord , the records from the Soviet era on Melodija . Rinne's own compositions were 1969 "When I was small" ( Kui ma olin väiksekene ), 1972 "Songs and Years" ( Laulud ja aastad ), and 1980 "And the cuckoo cried." ( Yes kägu kukub raal ).
Awards
In 1960 Artur Rinne was awarded the honorary title of " Honored Artist of the Estonian SSR ".
