Asa Andō ( Japanese 安藤 麻 , Andō Asa ; born April 24, 1996 in Asahikawa , Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese ski racer . It mainly starts in the giant slalom and slalom disciplines .

biography

Andō started in February 2011 in the Wanlong Ski Resort for the first time in the Far East Cup and finished seventh in the slalom. The following year she won the 54th place in the giant slalom at the Junior World Championships in Roccaraso . In the 2012/13 season she came on the podium eight times in the Far East Cup. He got two victories and achieved third place in the giant slalom classification and second place in the overall classification and in the Super-G classification. At the Junior World Championships 2013 in Mont Sainte-Anne , she achieved 37th place in the giant slalom. After third place in the slalom and giant slalom at the Far East Cup at the Wanlong Ski Resort at the beginning of the 2013/14 season, she won two wins in Yonpyong and also came second twice and third twice.

At the Junior World Championships 2014 in Jasná Andō came 31st place in slalom and 15th place in giant slalom. She finished the season in third place in the slalom and in the giant slalom classification and, as in the previous year, in second place in the overall classification. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season she made her debut in Sölden in the World Cup. She was eliminated in the first round with 32nd place in the giant slalom. In the further course of the season she reached five top ten placements in the Far East Cup, including one place two and one place three and at the end of the season she finished second in the Super-G classification. In March 2015 she became the Japanese slalom champion. Her best placement at the 2015 Junior World Championships in Hafjell was 27th in the giant slalom.

In the 2015/16 season Andō came on podium nine times in the Far East Cup. She got three wins and won the overall and giant slalom rankings at the end of the season. She also came second in the slalom classification. In March 2016, she won the Japanese championships in Sapporo in slalom and giant slalom. At the 2017 Winter Universiade in Almaty , she won the bronze medal in the Super-G and the gold medal in the giant slalom. She also came fourth in the combined and slalom. On October 28, 2017, she achieved her first World Cup points in giant slalom at the World Cup opener in Sölden, finishing 25th .
