Aschau is a district of Allendorf in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

Aschau is located west of Allendorf and southeast of Königsee on a north-sloping plateau in the foreland of the Thuringian Forest between the south-sloping terrain to the Schwarzatal and the Rinnetal, gently sloping to the north. Other neighboring communities were Oberhain , Unterhain , Oberköditz and Unterköditz .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document on November 19, 1370. Until 1918 the place belonged to the sovereignty of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .

Like Allendorf, Aschau was a farming village with an estate. The estate was nationalized after the Second World War. Today there is a company from Königsee in the village with 140 employees. The other company employs 30 people.

Königsee Implantate GmbH, one of the leading medical technology companies in the field of osteosynthesis, is based in Aschau.
