history

Ashurst was founded in London in 1822 under the name Ashurst Morris Crisp by William H. Ashurst, John Morris and Sir Frank Crisp. In 2003 the firm was renamed Ashurst LLP.

In 2012 Ashurst merged its Asian business with that of Australian law firm Blake Dawson. At the time, Ashurst had more than 900 lawyers worldwide, including 200 partners, and was in Abu Dhabi , Brussels , Dubai , Frankfurt , Hong Kong , London , Madrid , Milan , Munich , New York , Paris , Rome , Singapore , Stockholm , Tokyo , Washington, DC present. Blake Dawson reached a similar size with over 800 lawyers, including around 190 partners. The Australian law firm had offices in Adelaide , Brisbane , Canberra , Melbourne , Perth , Sydney , Shanghai , Singapore, Port Moresby and Tokyo as well as an affiliated office in Jakarta . As part of the merger of the Asian businesses, all Blake Dawson offices were renamed Ashurst Australia. In 2013, the partnerships between Ashurst LLP and Ashurst Australia resolved the full economic integration of both firms. The result is a law firm with more than 3,700 employees and total sales of more than £ 550 million.

Locations and employees

Ashurst has 26 offices in 16 countries in Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and the USA. In addition, the law firm has a “best friends” relationship with an Indian law firm.

Around 400 partners and more than 1,300 other lawyers work for Ashurst worldwide. In Germany the law firm has been present in Frankfurt am Main (since 1997) and in Munich (since 2001). In total, more than 70 lawyers advise at the two German locations.
