Asqar Myrzachmetov

Asqar Issabekuly Myrsachmetow ( Kazakh Асқар Исабекұлы Мырзахметов , Russian Аскар Исабекович Мырзахметов Askar Issabekowitsch Myrsachmetow * 1. October 1962 in Chimkent , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician.

Life

Asqar Myrsachmetow was born in Chimkent in 1962 . He graduated from the Veterinary Institute in Alma-Ata in 1984 . He later worked at the Kazakh Research Institute for Karakul Sheep and from 1988 to 1991 as a senior researcher at the Kazakh Animal Research Institute . Until 1999, Myrsachmetov held managerial positions in various companies.

From 1997 to 1999 he was a freelance advisor to the Kazakh Prime Minister Nurlan Balghymbajew . In March 1999, he first became Chairman of the Board of the Forum of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan, before being appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan in August . On August 25, 2005, he was appointed Minister of Agriculture by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev . After only a few months in this office, he was replaced on January 19, 2006 by Akhmetzhan Yessimov . On April 26, 2006, he was appointed Ambassador of Kazakhstan to neighboring Uzbekistan . From September 2007 to March 2009 he headed a Kazakh state company before being appointed Äkim (governor) of southern Kazakhstan on March 4, 2009 . In August 2015, Myrzakhmetov became the first deputy chairman of the Nur Otan party . As part of a government reorganization, he was reappointed Minister of Agriculture on May 6, 2016.

On December 15, 2017, he was fired from his two posts as Minister of Agriculture and Deputy Prime Minister. Since January 10, 2018, he has been the Äkim of the Shambyl region . After violent mass unrest in the Qordai region with a total of eleven dead and around 200 injured at the beginning of February 2020, Myrsachmetov was released a few days later on February 10 as Äkim of the Shambyl region.
