Akhmetzhan Yessimov
Akhmetzhan Smaghululy Jessimow ( Kazakh Ахметжан Смағұлұлы Есімов , Russian Ахметжан Смагулович Есимов , Akhmetzhan Smagulowitsch Yesimov ; * December 15, 1950 in the Almaty region ) is a Kazakh politician. Since August 2015 he has been managing director of the national company for the implementation of the Expo 2017 .
Life
Akhmetzhan Yessimov was born on December 19, 1950 in the Qaskeleng district near Almaty. In 1974 he graduated from the Kazakh Agricultural Institute . In the following years he became involved in the Communist Party of Kazakhstan and in 1990 he was appointed First Deputy Chairman of the State Agricultural Committee of the Kazakh SSR and in 1991 First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Kazakh SSR.
In 1991 he finally became chairman of the regional administration of the Almaty region; He held this office until December 1994. From 1998 to 2001, Akhmetjan Yezimov was Kazakhstan's ambassador to the Benelux countries and Kazakhstan's representative to the European Union and NATO .
From May 2001 to May 2006 he was Minister of Agriculture in Kazakhstan for the first time. From January 19, 2006 to April 2008, he was again Minister for Agriculture. In an extraordinary meeting of the Almaty City Council on April 4, 2008, he was appointed the city's new mayor. On October 16, 2008, he was also elected regional leader of the Nur Otan party.
On August 9, 2015, by decision of the Kazakh President, he became chairman of the National Society for the Organization of Expo 2017 in Astana .
