Serik Ümbetow

Serik Äbikenuly Ümbetow ( Kazakh Серік Әбікенұлы Үмбетов , Russian Серик Абикенович Умбетов ; born June 19, 1950 in Prudki, Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician.

Life

Serik Ümbetow was born in 1950 in the village of Prudki in the Shambyl area. From 1968 to 1970 he did military service in the Soviet army . He graduated from the veterinary institute in Alma-Ata in 1983 and then worked in various companies.

From 1992 to 1994 he was the head of the Curtin County Administration in the Almaty Region . In June 1994 he became the deputy head of the administration of the Äkim (governor) of the Almaty region. In March 1996 he was appointed Äkim of the Almaty region. From December 1997 on he held the post of Deputy Äkim of the Almaty area before he was appointed Äkim of the Shambyl area on February 17, 1999. On May 14, 2004 he became a member of the Kazakh government under Prime Minister Danial Akhmetov for the first time . He succeeded Akhmetzhan Yessimov as Minister of Agriculture . From August 11, 2005 he was again Äkim of the Almaty region. Between 2011 and 2012 he worked in the administration of the President of Kazakhstan. After the parliamentary elections in 2012 , Ümbetow was a member of the Mäschilis for Nur Otan . Even after the 2016 election, he will remain a member of Parliament, where he is a member of the Agriculture Committee.
