Astypalaia ( Greek Ἀστυπάλαια or Ἀστυπαλαία , Latin Astypalaea ) is a figure in Greek mythology .
She is the daughter of Perimede and Phoinix , a son of the Phoenician king Agenor , and is considered the sister of Europa . According to another tradition, she is Europe's niece.
Astypalaia has three sons with the god Poseidon : Eurypylos , who becomes king of the island of Kos , Ankaios , who becomes king of Samos and takes part in the voyage of the Argonauts , and Periklymenos .
The island of Astypalea in the eastern Aegean is named after her.
