Atanas ( Bulgarian Атанас ) is a Bulgarian and Macedonian male given name .

Origin and Distribution

Atanas is derived from the Greek name Athanasios and means "the immortal". In 1980 he took the fourteenth place among the most frequently given male first names in Bulgaria, and in 2009 the thirteenth place.
