action

A gyroscope-like alien spaceship is damaged by a meteor shower and shot down by interceptors as it enters the earth's atmosphere over Russia . The mysterious object finally crash-landed in the densely populated district of Chertanowo in the south of Moscow (incorrectly located in the north of Moscow in German dubbing). The disaster caused enormous damage and claimed hundreds of lives. The government responds immediately and imposes a state of emergency . The military, led by Colonel Lebedev, sealed off a large area of the crash site and evacuated the residents.

Julia, the school-age daughter of Colonel Lebedev, loses her best friend in this terrible event. Together with her boyfriend Artjom and his clique, she decides to do something against the intruders. The adolescents then secretly enter the military exclusion zone. Here Julia meets, alone and unexpectedly, a humanoid form of life in a strength-enhancing exoskeleton that saves her life in a confusing situation.

A little later, the alien is plunged into the depths by the rest of the group, whereupon he is injured and the exoskeleton, which is only a kind of space suit, has to leave behind and hide. The group around Artjom retrieves the spacesuit, while the torn Julia decides to help the interstellar guest. Julia treats the humanoid alien named Hakon and finally falls in love with him. She becomes aware that he traveled to earth in peace and that he has no bad intentions. Due to her change of heart, she herself gets caught between the fronts when xenophobia arises in the intolerant city - aided by the sparse information the authorities provide. Her friend Artyom is also looking for revenge.

At the end of the film, Julia Hakon leads near the crash site and says goodbye when an angry mob penetrates the restricted area and attacks the soldiers and strangers in a hostile manner. Artyom, determined to do everything, tries to kill the extraterrestrial guest. In the chaos he gets a weapon with which he seriously injures both the stranger and Julia. The shooter is then arrested. Julia and Hakon are brought on board the spaceship and given medical care. The spaceship leaves the earth and the last shot indicates that Hakon is waking up again. Julia stays behind and speaks thoughtfully from the off about the fact that an alien believed more in humanity than the humans themselves.

Reviews

The film service judged that the film offers “impressive show values” that “are far more convincing than the critical approaches to meeting people from different cultures. The superficial plea for willingness to enter into dialogue looks rather strange in the midst of the orgies of destruction. "

Blu-ray-Rezensions.net judges that “Attraction is an extremely effective and visually very successful mix of Independence Day and The day on which the earth is standing still , which although optics over depth of content, has the heart in the right place. When Saul summarizes humanity in the person of Yulya's father at the end of how violent human civilization really is, you can let that melt on your tongue - even if it looks very striking and deliberately staged.
