history

Auburn was founded in the early 19th century. At that time, however, the place called itself Federal Grove, Black Lick Settlement and Woodville. According to the local historical association, the name was changed to Auburn from the city of Auburn in the US state of New York . The Black Lick Post Office opened in 1860 and was renamed the Auburn Post Office just two years later.
