Audra Mae (born February 20, 1984 in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma ) is an American singer-songwriter . Judy Garland's great-niece became famous in Germany through compositions for Lena Meyer-Landrut and through collaboration with the Swedish DJ Avicii .

Career

Mae received her first attention as a singer in 2009 for her cover of the Bob Dylan song Forever Young , which was featured on the soundtrack of the television program Sons of Anarchy . Her debut album The Happiest Lamb was released in 2010. Mae had previously appeared as a songwriter with a composition for Susan Boyle's successful first record ( Who I Was Born to Be , 2009).

The member of The Upright Cabaret was involved in 2011 with Good News and A Good Day as a composer on two tracks for the album Good News by Lena Meyer-Landrut. Both songs were among the performed songs in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 , Our Song for Germany .

For the 2013 debut album True by the Swedish DJ Avicii , she contributed the vocals for three tracks: Long Road to Hell , Shame on Me and Addicted to You . Addicted to You was able to reach the charts in several countries through heavy downloads. She was also active as the author of various titles on the album.

Also in 2013 Mae co-wrote the song Somebody loves Somebody on the album Loved me back to life by Celine Dion .

On May 6, 2015 Avicii released the song Feeling Good , a cover of the jazz classic of the same name by Nina Simone . Again Audra Mae contributed the vocals without naming them.

Maes' interpretation of One Silver Dollar from the US-American Western Fluß ohne Wiederkehr , originally sung by Marilyn Monroe , is part of the soundtrack of the documentary Kokolampy by Hajo Schomerus , which was shown in the 2016 German DOK Leipzig competition .

Mae lives in Oklahoma City .
