The construction time was eight years. The opening on June 24, 2012 commemorated the 20th anniversary of the office of Anastasios Yannoulatos , Archbishop of Tirana and all of Albania. On June 1, 2014, the cathedral was inaugurated in the sea of houses in Tirana during a celebration of the divine liturgy .
