history

The area around Aufstetten was at least temporarily inhabited in prehistory and early history . A settlement from the Middle Neolithic was discovered . Later, people of the Hallstatt culture lived there before the Celts penetrated the area. They built a so-called Keltenschanze in the southwest of the village , which can still be seen in the area today. Funerary monuments refer to the cults of the dead of different cultures.

"Usteten" was first mentioned in a document in the 14th century. In 1323 the village appeared in a document from the Würzburg prince-bishop Wolfram von Grumbach . In the period that followed, the village lords changed frequently, so that the place name was also subject to some changes. Aufstetten was always part of the Würzburg monastery and had a parish church early on. In 1978 Aufstetten was incorporated into Röttingen and lost its centuries of independence.

Attractions

The center of the village is the Catholic parish church of St. John the Baptist. As early as 1453, the church in Aufstetten became a parish church. The church received its current form in 1741. It presents itself as a hall with a retracted choir and a small roof turret . Next to it is a house from the 17th century. The district of Aufstetten is wayside shaped and small monuments.
