occupation

Auftauchen is a German film drama by the director Felicitas Korn from 2006. The plot focuses on the love affair of a young couple. Portraits shape the film stylistically. Slowed- down scenes are integrated in a variety of ways, some of which are also presented in quicker editing sequences (especially in the dance scenes), which emphasizes emotional aspects. The film contains revealing erotic depictions, but without being pornographic .

action

Nadja is a young woman who is hungry for life and who pursues her studies and her job as a photographer during the day and dances in the clubs at night. There she met Darius, who was six years her junior doing community service. The two protagonists fall in love and initially have a carefree time.

In contrast, Nadja's embittered mother and Nike, a young person who sits almost motionless on a wall and is photographed by Nadja, are staged.

Darius feels increasingly constricted. Nadja becomes pregnant, but has an abortion. Subsequently, she loses her job as a photographer and temporarily her university place. Rejected by Darius, Nadja seeks contact with a former friend and ends up having a fleeting affair with a club bartender. It has hit rock bottom. Towards the end of the film, she resumes her studies. Darius seeks her closeness, but the two have become estranged. In the last scene of the film, Nadja lies on her bed with tears in her eyes.

criticism

Der Spiegel comments: "The radically naturalistic camera work does not stop at excessive love acts, vomit or an aborted fetus."

The German Film and Media Assessment (FBW) awarded the film rating valuable and praised it: "The documentary-style debut film is above all the great moment of a young, excessive and courageous actress: Henriette Heinze as Nadja."

The Internet portal prisma.de criticizes: The film "is not stingy [...] with revealing sex scenes (sex outdoors, sex from behind, sex in the water, etc.), which, however, seem overly artificial and only tire in the long run."

Award

Director Felicitas Korn was honored with the young talent award for best director at the Brooklyn International Film Festival in 2007 .
