From July 1804 he held the office of the Livonian governorate school director. As cathedral preacher he continued to work. He gave up the school directorate in 1819; However, he continued to hold school and church offices. He published the Livonian school papers , of which only three years appeared (Riga 1813-1816). The Schulmännische Zeitschrift (Riga 1916) was even less successful. Despite the co-editor Johann Daniel von Braunschweig , historian and then Kurland governorate school director from Mitau , only three issues appeared.
