August Eduard Schliecker

August Eduard Schliecker (born September 12, 1833 in Hamburg , † March 31, 1911 in Lauenburg / Elbe ) was a German landscape , architecture and vedute painter from the Düsseldorf and Munich schools .

Life

In his hometown of Hamburg, where he received his first artistic training from Martin Gensler , Schliecker initially worked as a lithographer . With an interruption in the years 1857/1858, when he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich , he then received academic training at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . Between 1856 and 1863, Karl Ferdinand Sohn , Rudolf Wiegmann , Hans Fredrik Gude and Oswald Achenbach were his teachers. Schliecker stayed in the landscape class of the latter in the years 1862/1863. In Düsseldorf he was a member of the artists' association Malkasten . In 1863 he went to Munich again , from 1864 to 1890 he lived in Hamburg. He undertook a number of study trips to the Rhine and Moselle regions as well as to southern Germany, Belgium and northern France, and between 1860 and 1890 also to the Netherlands. Schliecker's student was Elisabeth Reuter . Schliecker was a member of the Hamburg Artists' Association from 1832 .
