August Göllerich (born July 2, 1819 in Piacenza , Duchy of Parma and Piacenza or in Linz , † August 23, 1883 in Wels ) was an Austrian politician . From 1873 to 1878 he was a member of the Austrian House of Representatives and a member of the Progress Club.

Life

August Göllerich was born in Piacenza as the son of Captain Josef Göllerich. He attended grammar school in Udine and from 1838 studied law at the universities of Graz and Vienna . From 1841 he was employed as a concept intern at the highest court postal administration in Vienna and in 1844 he moved to the foreign office of the police headquarters in Vienna and Milan. After working for the State Council in 1846, he left the civil service in December 1848 and in 1849 bought an agricultural property in Packenstein ( Šmartno ob Paki ). Later, his property was enlarged by inheriting an agriculture in Untervogau ( Vogau , Leibnitz district ). Göllerich sold his agricultural property in 1859 and returned to the civil service in January 1859. He became concept adjunct at the Linz Police Department and was assigned to the Milan Police Department between April and July 1859. In 1860 he became city secretary of the city of Wels, and from 1861 he was also the head of the Welser Sparkasse, which was founded at that time.

In Wels, Göllerich was also involved in the volunteer fire brigade, where he was active as a captain between 1868 and 1882. In 1869 he was also a co-founder of the Central Committee of the Upper Austrian Fire Brigades, which he also chaired between 1873 and 1883. In addition, Göllerich acted as chairman of the Wels gymnastics club between 1862 and 1883 and was chairman of the Wels men's choir from 1866 to 1876. In the vocal business he was also involved from 1864 to 1883 as chairman of the Upper Austrian-Salzburg Singing Association, and he was also chairman of the Liedtafel and the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde Wels.

From 1861 Göllerich was also active as a journalist and from 1870 editor of the Welser Anzeiger. In the political field he was active as chairman of the liberal-political association in Wels from 1868 to 1874 and as chairman of the liberal association for Austria from 1874 to 1878. In addition, from 1868 to 1869 he was chairman of the workers' education association in Wels. Göllerich belonged to the Upper Austrian state parliament from August 20, 1870 until his death , where he represented the cities and industrial locations (electoral district Grein) as a member until 1877 and then represented the cities and industrial locations in the Kirchdorf electoral district. He was also a member of the state committee between 1882 and 1883. On April 4, 1873 he became a member of the Austrian House of Representatives as a representative of the constituency of cities 2 (Freistadt, Leonfelden, Oberneukirchen etc.). He resigned his mandate on April 28, 1878, because the city council of Wels did not want to give him further leave. In the House of Representatives Göllerich belonged to the Progress Club and from 1877 to the New Progress Club.

From 1853 Göllerich was with Marie Elisabeth Aloisia, b. Nowotny (1818–1891) from Vienna married and had two daughters and a son. His son August made a name for himself as a pianist and conductor, and one of his daughters married Franz Holter .
