August Henggeler (born February 1, 1848 in Unterägeri ; † October 22, 1929 in Horw , Catholic , then reformed , entitled to live in Unterägeri and Zurich ) was a Swiss entrepreneur and liberal politician .

biography

August Henggeler was born on February 1, 1848 in Unterägeri as the son of the entrepreneur and liberal politician Wolfgang Henggeler and the Barbara nee Schmid. After graduating from school in Zurich , Henggeler completed a technical and commercial training.

As a result, from 1870 August Henggeler worked in the Spinnerei an der Lorze in Baar , which his father had founded . He started as an adjunct before taking on commercial and technical management between 1875 and 1906. Henggeler was last on the Board of Directors from 1907 to 1928, of which he was Chairman from 1916. Henggeler took care of the methodical renewal of the machine park. In addition, he served from 1890 to 1929 as a member of the board of directors and president of the Zug Metallwarenfabrik and from 1877 to 1919 as chairman of the board of directors of the “Ägeri spinning mills” .

August Henggeler, who was married to Emilie, the daughter of the court president Johann Heinrich Frei from Hedingen , died on October 22, 1929 three months before he was 82 years old in Horw. He was the older brother of Heinrich and nephew of Alois Henggeler .

Political offices

August Henggeler was a liberal cantonal councilor from 1886 to 1898 . He was also a member of the constitutional commission between 1892 and 1893. He was also represented on the church council of the Reformed parish of the canton of Zug from 1888 to 1907 , of which he was president from 1904.
