August Joos

August Joos (born February 17, 1833 in Waldkirch ; † June 25, 1909 in Karlsruhe ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Born the son of a miller master and mill owner, studied Joos after visiting the Freiburg Berthold High School Law in Freiburg and Heidelberg . During his studies in 1851 he became a member of the Freiburg fraternity of Teutonia . After his exams in 1855 and 1858, he worked for a higher court attorney in Mannheim until 1862 , then from 1863 to 1865 as a lawyer in Freiburg. After his appointment to the Baden high school board, he worked in Karlsruhe until 1869, then as senior administrator and board member at the Oberkirch district office . From 1870 to 1871 he was also the head of the cork district office for a short time. From 1872 to 1874 he was the head of the Pforzheim district office . With interruptions he was a member of the Baden Estates Assembly between 1873 and 1899 , from 1873 to 1874 and from 1887 to 1888 he was a member of the National Liberal Party of the Second Chamber, from 1895 to 1899 he was a member of the First Chamber appointed by the Grand Duke. From 1874 to 1881 he was Ministerialrat in the Baden Ministry of the Interior, and from 1874 to 1886 as the sovereign commissioner of the Upper Council of the Israelites of Baden . In 1881 he moved to the Ministry of Justice, Culture and Education as Ministerialrat, where he was head of the high school council until 1886. In 1881 he became a secret trainee. From 1886 to 1895 he was director of the high school board. In 1891 he became a Privy Councilor, and in 1892 a Privy Councilor, 2nd class. In 1889 he became a member of the Competence Court. From 1895 to 1899 he was President of the Administrative Court and the Competence Court. From 1899 to 1907 he was President of the Chamber of Accounts and received the title Real Privy Councilor with the title of Excellence . In 1907 he was retired.
