August Ludwig Georg von Hedemann (born January 19, 1739 in Celle ; † April 16, 1813 in Itzehoe ) was a German dragoon officer in the Danish service, most recently in the rank of major general .

Life

August Ludwig Georg von Hedemann came from Kurhannover . He was the son of Christian Hartwig von Hedemann (1699–1747), heir to Schwarmstedt and Count of Bückeburger Landdrost , and his wife Eleonore Sophie Dorothea nee. from the Wense . In 1754 he joined a Holstein regiment as a cornet . He became Premier Lieutenant in 1758 , Rittmeister in 1764 , in 1776 he was given the character of Major and in 1780 Second Major and in 1783 Prime Major . From 1789 he served as a lieutenant colonel in the Jutian dragoon regiment and was promoted to colonel in 1795 . In 1803 he became major general (with anciency 1802) chief of the Danish body regiment Dragoons.

From 1803 to 1809 he and his unit were deployed in the coalition wars to protect the southern Danish- Holstein border. Together with the commanding general of the vanguard Johann von Ewald , he fought off the troops of Prussia and France near Stockelsdorf , which violated Holstein's neutrality after the battle of Lübeck . In 1809 he said goodbye due to old age and retired to Itzehoe, where he owned a smaller property.

He was married to Magdalene Margarethe von der Maase (1762-1823) from Odense since 1786.
