Philipp August Josef Paul Nuss (born April 15, 1883 in Gernsheim ; † July 4, 1958 in Worms ) was a Hessian politician ( center ) of the Catholic faith and a former member of the Landtag of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimar Republic .

August Nuss was the son of the businessman and mayor (Franz) Josef Nuss and his wife Katharina (Auguste), née Laufer. On September 12, 1911 he married Elisabeth (Christine Gertrude Katharina) Uebel.

August Nuss studied law in Freiburg , Munich and Giessen . Since 1902 he was a member of the KDStV Hercynia Freiburg im Breisgau , later also other student associations in the Cartell Association . After the state examination he worked as an assessor in Darmstadt and from 1910 as a lawyer in Seligenstadt . In 1914 he moved to Worms, where he also worked as a lawyer.

August Nuss was a member of the German Center Party. On July 21, 1920, he succeeded Georg Scherer , who had left the parliament, in the state parliament of the Hesse state of the Weimar Republic . He remained a member of parliament for four electoral terms and left the state parliament in 1928. His successor in the state parliament was Jakob Keller . Nuss was appointed representative of the People's State of Hesse to the Reich government.
