August Oesterlen

Ludwig August Oesterlen (born May 1, 1819 in Öhringen , † March 1, 1893 in Stuttgart ) was a Württemberg lawyer and politician.

Life

Oesterlen attended high school in Stuttgart and studied law in Tübingen from 1837 to 1842 . He had been a member of the Germania Tübingen fraternity since 1837 . In 1842 he passed the first higher judicial service examination and then was a trainee lawyer at the court for the Danube district in Ulm , followed in 1843 by the second higher judicial service examination . From the summer of 1844 Oesterlen was a judicial assessor at the Oberamtsgericht Öhringen and from the end of 1846 a judicial assessor (1848 senior justice assessor) at the Stuttgart city court. He took an active part in the 1848 and 1849 movement . After a setback was threatened, he retired from the civil service and practiced until 1889 when the Court of Appeal admitted attorney in Stuttgart. In Stuttgart he was a co-founder and board member of the Handwerkerbank.

In 1849 he ran unsuccessfully for the first state assembly to review the constitution, and as a member of the Waiblingen office he was able to win the election for the second and third state assembly of Württemberg to advise the constitution in 1850. From 1862 to 1876 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Württemberg Land estates for the Oberamt Hall and the Democratic People's Party . He was particularly active in bringing about the reform of the judiciary. From 1868 to 1870 he was also a member of the customs parliament as a member of the electoral district of Württemberg 11 ( Hall , Backnang , Marbach , Vaihingen ) .

Oesterlen was also a councilor in Stuttgart.
