August Weger (born July 28, 1823 in Nuremberg ; died May 27, 1892 in Leipzig ) was a German graphic artist , engraver and printer .

Weger founded a graphic company in Leipzig in 1840. He is known for his portraits of famous people such as Robert Blum , Matthias Claudius , Emil Devrient , Ludwig Feuerbach , Friedrich Gerstäcker , Franz Liszt , Emil Scaria , Robert Schumann , Carl Christian Ullmann . He operated with the steel and copper engraver Theodor Weger jun. (1838–1892) had a studio in Leipzig, where they also worked together as printers. In 1870 Weger published two albums with portraits in steel engraving, which were made from photographs, the prince album and the artist album. He was also involved with several steel engravings in the volume The Franco-German War 1870–1871, portrait part of the General Staff Works.
