Live and act

Ziegert came from a Protestant family of preachers. From 1829 to 1833 he studied law and camera science at the Universities of Halle and Berlin . During his studies he joined the Old Hallische Burschenschaft Germania in 1829 and the Arminia Halle fraternity in 1830 . In 1832 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . Ziegert began his professional career in 1840 at the Higher Regional Court in Minden . In 1847 he was appointed senior councilor of the Minden district government and in 1851 was transferred to Bromberg .

During the revolution of 1848/49 , Ziegert was a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly for the constituency of Minden from May 18, 1848 to May 25, 1849 . He joined the Württemberger Hof parliamentary group . This belonged to the left center and spoke out in favor of a parliamentary monarchy. Ziegert made a name for himself with speeches on foreign policy. He spoke out in favor of Schleswig-Holstein , Bohemia and Limburg belonging to Germany. After the Prussian government had declared the mandates of the Prussian MPs to have expired on May 7, 1849, Ziegert was one of those who initially remained in Frankfurt. Like the remaining Westphalian MPs, however, he no longer took part in the relocation of the rump parliament to Stuttgart on May 30th.

Because of his left-liberal attitude, he was viewed critically within the Minden government. After the end of the reaction era, Ziegert belonged to the Prussian House of Representatives from 1862 to 1866 as a member of the Left Center.
