Auguste Marie Philippa Princess of Bavaria (born October 11, 1979 in Landsberg am Lech ) is a German ornithologist .

Life

Auguste von Bayern is the eldest daughter of Beatrix and Luitpold Prince of Bavaria . She lives at Leutstetten Castle not far from Starnberg and is married to the lawyer Ferdinand Prinz zur Lippe-Weißenfeld . In 2013 she became the mother of a son.

Auguste von Bayern met Irenäus Eibl-Eibesfeldt and Jane Goodall at the age of 14 . After graduating from high school, she studied biology in Munich at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, in Cape Town and in Cambridge and received her doctorate in 2008 on "Social intelligence and socio-cognitive abilities of jackdaws". After graduating from Cambridge, she went to Oxford . The zoologist researches the intelligence of corvids ( ravens , jackdaws and crows). She is currently group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology , Seewiesen.

In addition, she is the chairman of the board of the Naturkundemuseum Bayern e.V. V., who is committed to a modern natural history museum with the theme "Future - People - Nature" in Munich.

In 2015 she was awarded the Bavarian State Medal for special services to the environment .
