Augusto Martín Quijano Rodríguez SDB (born March 7, 1969 in Aija , Ancash region , Peru ) is a Peruvian Roman Catholic religious and Vicar Apostolic of Pucallpa .

Life

Augusto Martín Quijano Rodríguez joined the religious order of the Salesians of Don Bosco , made perpetual profession on January 31, 1995 and completed his studies in Lima and Santiago de Chile . On November 22, 1997, he received the sacrament of ordination .

In addition to pastoral care, he held various management positions within the order. He has been an economist and leader of Salesian communities in various cities, most recently since 2016 in the Misión San Lorenzo under the Tshaawi on the Río Sillay and on the Río Shihuaray in the Apostolic Vicariate of Yurimaguas . The missionary experience in the lowlands was a preparation for the proposed appointment as Vicar Apostolic of Pucallpa. In addition, he was a member of the governing body of his religious province several times as a provincial councilor .

On July 31, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Vicar Apostolic of Pucallpa. The Archbishop of Huancayo , Pedro Ricardo Cardinal Barreto Jimeno SJ , donated him the episcopal ordination on September 21 of the same year in the Maria-Hilf-Basilica in Lima . Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Peru, Archbishop Nicolas Girasoli , and his predecessor Gaetano Galbusera Fumagalli . The inauguration in Pucallpa took place on September 28, 2019.
