The Apostolic Vicariate of Yurimaguas ( lat. : Apostolicus Vicariatus Yurimaguaënsis ) is in the northeast of Peru located Roman Catholic apostolic vicariate , based in Yurimaguas .

history

The Apostolic Vicariate of Yurimaguas was established on February 27, 1921 from the cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate of San León del Amazonas, today's Apostolic Vicariate of Iquitos , as the Apostolic Prefecture of San Gabriel de la Dolorosa del Marañón . It was entrusted to the Passionists . That is why the passionist brother Gabriel, canonized a year earlier, was elected patron by the painful Mother of God (Spanish: Gabriel de la Dolorosa ).

On June 3, 1936, the Apostolic Prefecture of San Gabriel de la Dolorosa del Marañón was elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate.

The Apostolic Vicariate gave up on January 11, 1946 parts of its territory to found the Apostolic Vicariate San Francisco Javier, today's Apostolic Vicariate Jaén en Peru o San Francisco Javier .

On November 10, 1960, the name of the Vicariate Apostolic San Gabriel de la Dolorosa del Marañón was changed to Vicariate Apostolic Yurimaguas .
