The training division 402 was a German infantry division in World War II .
Division history
Division e.g. V. 402
The Division eg V 402 was for the Military District II placed the end of October 1939 in Szczecin and already resolved a month later again and used in the development of. Division # 152.
At the end of January 1940 followed the renewed line-up to take care of the state riflemen of the military district; a total of 24 state rifle battalions.
Division No. 402
On September 25, 1942, the division, for example V. 402, was upgraded to the replacement division No. 402 , as the military district had to give up division No. 152 and division No. 192 as replacement divisions. Until the beginning of 1945, the division took on education and training tasks.
Replacement division 402
At the end of January 1945, the division was renamed Replacement Division 402 . The regiments were to be deployed in the Schneidemühl fortress and in the Pomeranian position. The subordination was under the 11th Army , later under the 3rd Panzer Army . In February / March 1945 the division took part in the fighting for Kolberg . With the fall of Kolberg in mid-March 1945, the division went under. The remnants withdrew to Schwerin .
Training Division 402
The division, also 402nd Training Division , was reorganized on March 26, 1945 in Schwerin and relocated to Usedom . The unit was set up from all replacement units still available in military district II . The unit was deployed against the Red Army in April 1945 on the island of Usedom, later on Swinoujscie . With the remnants of the 3rd Panzer Army, the division went into British captivity.
