The Golden Steering Wheel is one of the most famous German awards for new car models. It has been awarded by the tabloid Bild am Sonntag since 1976, and since 2009 in cooperation with the European part of the Auto Bild Group. In 2018, the action was suspended due to the events surrounding the exhaust gas manipulation .

Auto Bild Sportscars awards this prize to the sports cars of the previous year. The prize is awarded annually before the Essen Motor Show and has existed since 2002.

All-wheel drive car of the year

The All-Wheel-Drive Car of the Year award is presented annually by Auto Bild Allrad and is considered the most important award in the 4 × 4 vehicle segment. “In 2011 AUTO BILD ALLRAD presented the awards in nine categories, which are graded according to purchase price and vehicle category. "The Golden Carrot"

In the last issue of the year, the magazine awards the golden, silver or bronze carrot to models that rust prematurely or have defects in the mechanics / electrics / electronics. In 2010 these were the Alfa Romeo 159 (gold), the BMW Z4 (silver) and the Ford S-Max (bronze). In 2012 these were the VW Touran (gold), the BMW 1 Series (silver) and Opel Signum (bronze). There is also a special price, the “tin carrot”. In 2009 the German car dealers got them for overpriced leasing bills and in 2012 all car manufacturers, because (quote :) “They stipulate the expensive long-life oil, refer to maintenance-free batteries and timing chains and promise their customers the blue of the sky. If damage does occur, [...], many manufacturers do not want to cover the costs. "
