The ACE Auto Club Europa e. V. ( ACE ) is Germany's second largest automobile club after the ADAC with more than 630,000 members . The association is based in Stuttgart. In terms of transport policy, the ACE is committed to the car and at the same time promotes the idea of holistic mobility that should meaningfully link all means of transport.
history
The club was founded in 1965 by trade unions in the DGB out of the GUV / faculty . The founding day was July 16, 1965; On the sidelines of the International Transport Exhibition in Munich, Kurt Heinemann and Gerhard Kugoth were elected chairmen with equal rights. In 1969 it became the second largest automobile club in Germany with around 300,000 members. In 1974 the club had 400,000 members. He was a member of the Federal Association of Public Enterprises eV of the Trade Unions. The opening to people without union ties took place in 1995. Today the association has around 630,000 members.
structure
Chairman is Stefan Heimlich, who replaced his predecessor Wolfgang Rose , who left office for reasons of age, on March 21, 2014 , his deputy is Karlheinz Stockfisch, who replaced his predecessor Erwin Braun, who left office for reasons of age on July 17, 2015. The club is divided regionally into 6 regions (North ( Schleswig-Holstein , Hamburg , Bremen , Lower Saxony ), North Rhine-Westphalia , Bavaria , East ( new federal states ), Baden-Württemberg (Baden-Württemberg without Tauberfranken) and Central ( Saarland , Rhineland -Pfalz , Hessen , Tauberfranken )) and about 113 district clubs. There are also around 1,000 partner companies from which members can inquire about and receive services, as well as a nationwide network of lawyers of trust.
A general assembly attended by elected delegates takes place every four years. Only those who are members of one of the trade unions united in the DGB and who have been an ACE member for at least a full year can be elected or appointed to association bodies.
On November 18, 2019, the ACE's general meeting said it decided that the ACE would advocate a speed limit of 130 km / h on motorways with politicians and legislators.

Working method
ACE maintains a comprehensive network of contractual partners who provide breakdown and accident assistance if necessary . There are also partner car workshops that offer special offers for members. The operations are coordinated by a dedicated emergency call center (ACE Euro emergency call) in Stuttgart.
