The Auze is a river in France that runs in the Cantal department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It rises in the Volcans d'Auvergne Regional Nature Park , on the northern slope of the Puy de l'Agneau , on the municipal boundary between Anglards-de-Salers and Saint-Bonnet-de-Salers . The Auze generally drains west to northwest over the basalt plateau of Salins , leaves it with the 30 meter high Cascade de Salins waterfall and flows after 44 kilometers at the southwestern municipal boundary of Chalvignac in the storage area of the Barrage du Chastang as a left tributary into the Dordogne .
