The Aveyron is a river in France that runs in the regions of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Center-Val de Loire . It rises in the municipality of Champcevrais , is dammed shortly after its origin in the Étang de Châtre and used to irrigate the castle garden of the Château de Châtre . It drains then north to northwest through the countryside Gâtinais and opens after 30 kilometers in the municipality of Montbouy as right tributary in the Loing , which here parallel to the navigation canal Briare canal runs. On its way, the Aveyron crosses the Yonne and Loiret departments .
