Avon Lake is a city in northeast Lorain County in Ohio , United States . In 2000 the city ​​had 18,145 inhabitants.

Avon Lakes geographic coordinates are 41 ° 30 ′  N , 82 ° 0 ′  W (41.501595, −82.006309). It's about 15 miles west of Cleveland and about two miles north of Interstate 90 / Ohio State Route 2 , which is a quick link into central Cleveland. Avon Lake was first settled around 1812. when the area was still part of Cuyahoga County . In 1822 the area became part of Lorain County.
