Avram K. Fefer (* 1965 in San Francisco ) is an American jazz saxophonist (soprano, alto and tenor saxophone) and clarinetist (clarinet, bass clarinet) of the Modern Creative .

Life

Avram Fefer graduated from Harvard University and studied music at Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory . He then spent several years in Paris , where he worked with Archie Shepp , the band The Last Poets , Sunny Murray , Kirk Lightsey , Jack Gregg , Rasul Siddik , Graham Haynes and John Betsch . In Paris, Avram Fefer also dealt with West African and Arabic music and played with a large number of musicians from Senegal , Cameroon , Mali and Morocco . From the mid-1990s he began to record albums under his own name; He also worked with Bobby Few . After his return to New York, he continued his work as a composer and directed various ensembles and recorded a number of albums as a leader or co-leader, u. a. with Bobby Few, Tomas Ulrich , Ken Filiano and Jay Rosen . He has also worked on projects with David Murrays Big Band, the Butch Morris Orchestra, the Joseph Bowie Big Band, the Mingus Big Band , Frank Lacy's Vibe Tribe, the Rob Reddy Octet, Famoro Diabate's Kakande, the Adam Lane Octet, the Michael Bisio Quartet and from Burnt Sugar with.
