history

The foundation stone for the company was laid in 1985 when the IP Import and Export Company was integrated as a 100% subsidiary into Axel Springer AG, today Axel Springer SE . The seat of the company was in Frankfurt am Main . In 1989 the company's headquarters were relocated from Frankfurt am Main to Dietzenbach .

In 1992, the IP Import and Export Company was renamed Axel Springer Verlag Vertriebs GmbH . In 1998 the company headquarters moved from Dietzenbach to Hamburg. Axel Springer SE holds all shares in Axel Springer Verlag Vertriebs GmbH.

In 2007, the international sales division of Axel Springer SE was integrated into Axel Springer Verlag Vertriebs GmbH. This created a press distribution for 60 countries that is also accessible to third parties. Through the integration of ZZ Kurier GmbH , a BMD company specializing in direct marketing, the company expanded to become a full-service provider in 2011 and was renamed Axel Springer Vertriebsservice GmbH .

On May 30, 2016, the Hamburg media company Gruner + Jahr announced that an agreement had been reached with Axel Springer Verlag that the Axel Springer sales service would be integrated into the sales company Deutscher Pressevertrieb belonging to Gruner + Jahr Verlag .
