Ayapampa is a town in the Cochabamba department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Ayapampa is the central place of the canton Ayapampa in the municipality of Alalay in the province of Mizque . The village is located on a ridge of the Cordillera of Cochabamba at an altitude of 3306  m on a right tributary of the Río Pajcha , which flows downstream near Mizque into the Río Mizque .

Ayapampa is located in the northwestern part of the Cordillera Oriental , the easternmost mountain range of the Bolivian high mountains. The climate of the region is characterized by a typical time of day climate , in which the daily temperature fluctuations are more pronounced than the seasonal fluctuations.

The annual average temperature is 12 ° C (see Vacas climate diagram), temperatures in the winter months of June / July are just under 10 ° C and in November / December a little more than 14 ° C. Ayapampa is located at a distance of 92 kilometers by road southeast of Cochabamba , the capital of the department of the same name.

From Cochabamba the asphalt national road Ruta 7 leads in a south-easterly direction 41 kilometers to San Benito , from there a dirt road further south-east via Punata to Arani . From there, an unpaved road continues to the southeast and after 21 kilometers via Pocoata reaches the village of Alalay . In Alalay, a side road branches off in a south-easterly direction, passes the Alalay cemetery and after sixteen kilometers leads past Ayapampa .
