Mizque ( Quechua : Misk'i ) is a country town in the Cochabamba department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
The village was founded by the Spanish on September 20, 1603, its name comes from the word misk'i in the Quechua language and means "sweet, mild" .
Location in the vicinity
Mizque is the central place of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Mizque and the seat of the administration of the Mizque province . The village is located at an altitude of 2014 m in the valley of the Río Uyuchama in the mountain range of the Cordillera Oriental .
geography
Mizque lies between the mountain ranges of the Cordillera Oriental and the Cordillera Central . The climate is characterized by year-round spring-like temperatures and low rainfall.
The average annual temperature of the region is around 20 ° C (see Mizque climate diagram) and an annual rainfall of 550 mm. Transport network
Mizque is 150 kilometers by road southeast of Cochabamba , the capital of the department.
The city is located on a fairly well-maintained dirt road that leads northwest through the Valle Alto to Cochabamba, on the other side as the Ruta 23 road south to Aiquile and on to Sucre . The village has an almost daily bus service to Cochabamba.
Mizque is also on the Cochabamba-Aiquile railway line. However, the train station is on the other side of the river and is therefore very difficult to reach for the residents. Most of the city's residents are unaware that a Ferrobus runs three times a week in each direction on the railway line . The journey by Ferrobus to and from Cochabamba takes around twice as long as by bus.
