Bärbel Nehring-Kleedehn , b. Kleedehn (born July 29, 1952 in Schwerin ) is a German economist and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Kleedehn is the daughter of an engineer. After graduating from high school in Wolgast in 1971 , she studied chemistry, Russian and French at the University of Greifswald until 1973 . She then worked as an industrial clerk, initially as a clerk and later as an economic manager at the Lubmin nuclear power plant . As a part-time job, she began studying economics (distance learning) at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management in 1982 , which she completed in 1988 with an economics degree.

After the political change in the GDR , Kleedehn worked in 1989/90 to set up a baked goods combine. She later became a member of the Board of Trustees of the German Red Cross (DRK). From 1998 to 2002 she was president of the DRK regional association Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Kleedehn joined the East CDU in 1988 , became a member of the CDU in 1990 and was elected to the state executive committee of the CDU Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the same year. In 1995 she became chairwoman of the CDU district association Ludwigslust .

Kleedehn was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from 1994 to 2002 .

Kleedehn was Finance Senator for the city ​​of Greifswald from May to October 1990 . On October 27, 1990, she was appointed finance minister in the government of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania led by Prime Minister Alfred Gomolka , and since 1992 she has also been a member of the subsequent government led by Prime Minister Berndt Seite . In her role as finance minister, she came under increasing pressure from the opposition.

On May 7, 1996 Kleedehn had to cede the management of the finance department to Sigrid Keler in the course of a cabinet reshuffle . At the same time she took over the management of the Ministry for Building, Regional Development and Environment. After the CDU was defeated in the 1998 state elections and a coalition of the SPD and PDS was formed , it left the government on November 3, 1998.
