The Bärenstein is a hill in the Lippe Forest with a height of 318.1  m in the district of Holzhausen-Externsteine ​​in the municipality of Horn-Bad Meinberg in North Rhine-Westphalia .

There is a former quarry on its northeastern flank. The Wiembecke was dammed into a lake between the Bärenstein and the Externsteine , which is located directly to the southeast . The mountain is part of the Externsteine ​​FFH protected area .

The circular hiking trail A8 (Herrmannsweg) crosses the hill and leads in the northwest over the Stemberg , the Falkenberg and the Falkenburg .
