Béranger Frédol the Younger († November 1323 uncertain: in Avignon ) was bishop of Béziers from 1309 and cardinal from 1312 .

Life

He was the son of Pierre Frédol, Seigneur de Lavérune and nephew of Cardinal Béranger Frédol the Elder , and thus a great-nephew of Pope Clement V. He began his career as a canon and chamberlain in the cathedral chapter of Béziers . In 1309 he was elected Bishop of Béziers, the election was confirmed on May 29, 1309 by the Pope (his great-uncle).

In the consistory of December 23, 1312 he was elevated to cardinal by Clement V and received as the cardinal priest Santi Nereo e Achilleo as the titular church . In 1313 he became Camerlengo of the College of Cardinals . He took part in the conclave from 1314 to 1316 in Carpentras and from 1315 in Lyon , from which John XXII. emerged as Pope. On August 22, 1317 he was appointed Cardinal Bishop of Porto e Santa Rufina . In June 1323 he succeeded his uncle as cardinal dean . He died six months later.
