history

The Büchelberghaus was located on the summit of the Büchelberg until 1962. This excursion restaurant was first built as a forest house around 1840 and is the center of public and forest festivals. In 1891 the house was replaced by the beautification association with a restaurant in the style of a Swiss chalet . After it was taken over by the city of Aschaffenburg in 1921, it became a public restaurant. The landscape around the Büchelberg should be integrated into the park-like design of the pheasantry . Only the viewing terrace with a linden tree and a wide flight of stairs have been preserved. In the north-east and south-west of it there are viewpoints on the shoulders of the ridge: a former round tree marked by two larches and a linden tree set on the top of the rock. The Hohe Kreuz, built in 1844, which is already on the Haibach district , is part of this park landscape initiated by Mayor Adalbert von Herrlein.
